The artist’s studio is a universe where matter shifts, wears down, and accumulates in layers. Here, time gathers not only in the created works but also in their traces: glass dust, metal shavings, stone powder, wood chips.
Mante Elelueta approaches these spaces as microcosms: she collects samples from different workshops, revealing invisible studio worlds that resemble celestial bodies observed through a telescope. Each photograph becomes a nebula of a particular studio – a constellation capturing rhythms of creation, fragments of daily life, the quiet decay of matter, and its enduring energy.
Studio Nebulae is part of a five-year exploration of the dust microcosm; in this project, studios are revealed not as sites of production but as creative time capsules. In this project, dust bears witness to hidden time, the traces of creation, and its perpetual transformation.
